Radio Telephony
This course aims to ensure that candidates are competent in the operation of MF/HF and VHF radio, in particular its use with respect to distress, urgency, and safety messages.
As well as receiving a marine radio operator certificate of proficiency (MROCP) issued by the Office of Maritime Communications (OMC), students will receive a statement of completion in the following unit:

Certificates will not be issued to anyone under 16 years of age.

Ship Station Operators and use of stations

Special provisions for distress, urgency and safety

Distress procedures and method of sending urgency and safety signals

Limited coast stations for the fishing industry

Inshore boating radio communication service

Emergency position indicating radio beacons

Operating DSC transmitters
Examination
This course prepares the student for the examination for the Marine Radio Operator's Certificate of Proficiency.
Equipment
Students should bring 1 passport-size photograph of themselves as well as writing materials for note taking. A highlighter or fluorescent pen is also useful.
