Certificate Courses
The Australian Fisheries Academy offers maritime regulatory Certificate of Competency courses which lead to a qualification from the Transport & Distribution Maritime Training Package and the issuance of a commercial skipper or engineer qualification by a Maritime Authority if sea-time and other requirements are met.

It is essential that all prospective students contact the relevant maritime authority to determine their eligibility for examination and to ensure all prerequisites and criteria are met.
Certificate courses offered by AFA are:
- Certificate II (Coastal Maritime Operations - Coxswain)
- Certificate III (Coastal Maritime Operations - Master Class 5)
- Certificate IV (Coastal Maritime Operations - Master Class 4)
- Certificate III (Coastal Maritime Operations - Marine Engine Driver Grade 2)
- Certificate IV (Coastal Maritime Operations - Marine Engine Driver Grade 1)
