Certificate III in Transport & Distribution (Coastal Maritime Operations - Marine Engine Driver 2)

To be eligible for the Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Certificate a student must:

  • be 18 years of age
  • have approved service on vessels of not less than 150kW propulsion power for:
    • 12 months with no previous training or as a marine fitter;
    • 6 months while holding a Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 certificate; or
    • 3 months as a diesel mechanic, motor mechanic or refrigeration mechanic
  • have satisfactorily completed a Elements of Shipboard Safety (ESS) course
  • have met the medical standards required
  • have provided character and sobriety testimonials
  • paid the appropriate fee to the relevant maritime authority

Pre-requisites:

  • Elements of Shipboard Safety (Senior First Aid; Survival & Fire)
